2009 / 2010 A QUINTUPLE WINNING SEASON FOR OUR SALISBURY CITY YOUTH TYRO SQUAD
TYRO DIV 1 CHAMPIONS : HAMPSHIRE CUP WINNERS : TYRO CUP WINNERS : NADDER CUP WINNERS : FESTIVAL OF FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS
UNDEFEATED AND 100% WIN RATE FOR THE SEASON
What a season 09/10 was and one that will be hard to forget for the boys, the coaching staff and parents.
The season started off well enough with wins in both the league and Hampshire and Tyro cups. Our first Cup match was an away trip to the Isle of Wight where our boys beat Brading 15-0, then there were a couple of tough back to back matches against Pace Youth, that our boys won but showed us it could be a tough season ahead.
The boys were worked hard in training by our effective and hard working management / coaching staff and were put through their paces, physically, by Steve our physical training instructor. Everything was going well, until the bad weather kicked in around November time and then it rained and rained and game after game was postponed and then an occassional game was played before the weather put paid to lots more matches and if games were not called off because of rain, they were called off because the pitches were frozen and on and on it went. When the weather eventually eased up, all th cup matches had to be caught up with before the Tyro Div One matches could be got on with, which left us, as we entered April 2010 with a backlog of fixtures which meant we would have to play 11 games in 22 days! Surely, we thought, this would put paid to our chances of the league and possibly some of the cups BUT our boys took everything that was thrown at them and got though this period by winning all their matches and they went on to win the Tyro Division One, The Hampshire County FA Cup, (where Nick Holmes kindly took time out of his schedule to watch our boys play and congratulate them on their victory), The Tyro Challenge League Cup and the Nadder Valey Challenge Cup.
And, if you thought that was enough and the boys needed a rest, no way! The morning after the Nadder Valley Cup triumph we were packing our bags and setting off to Minehead for the Easter and Spring Festival of Football at Butlins and once again our boys came through as champions by winning all 5 games in their league. This meant the squad had entered 5 competitions for the season 2009 / 2010 and won all five. We'd heard of treble winning teams, even quadruple winning teams but had to search for the terminology for a team who had won 5, which we found out was Quintuple!
So for 09/10 our boys were Quintuple Winning Champions, a great achievement for a team so young and the coaching staff (who themselveshad worked hard to make this possible) and the parents and families, could not have been prouder. Whether this feat could ever be repeated remains to be seen but one thing is for sure, the 09/10 Quintuple Winning season will live long in our memories

NADDER VALLEY CHALLENGE CUP FINAL
APRIL 29TH - BEMERTON HARLEQUINS GROUND
REPORT - ROB WADE
SALISBURY City Youth under 11s secured an astonishing fourth trophy
after a 7-1 win over local rivals Laverstock & Ford in the Nadder Valley Cup Final.
After picking up the Hampshire Cup, Tyro Cup and Tyro League in recent weeks they went into the match with Badger league winners Laverstock & Ford as clear favourites.
From the first whistle, the Whites tore into Laverstock and it seemed only a matter of time before they scored. However, after Sam Dolan had hit the bar and Richie Cooper the post, plus a disallowed offside goal and some heroic efforts from Laverstock keeper Callum McDonald, the score remained goalless well into the first half.
When the goal finally came it was Cooper who got it. He and Billy Ward had caused the Laverstock defence problems all night down the flanks and when Cooper’s shot was only parried, he coolly slotted home the opener.
Somehow despite the onslaught, Laverstock held out to go in at half-time just 1-0 down. Whilst the Laverstock goal was under constant threat, Salisbury keeper Tom Roberts was a virtual onlooker.
Football is a funny old game and as Laverstock started the second half on the attack, Salisbury were all at sea. The Whites barely got out of their half for five minutes as the busy Laverstock midfield of Jaymee Domoney, Bradley Commons and Sam Knight assumed control.
With striker Liam Waters suddenly dragging the defenders all over the pitch, Domoney's cross was slid into the net by Commons. A superb goal and a worthy equaliser which meant substitute keeper's William Wade's first task was to pick the ball out of the net. Extraordinarily Laverstock should then have gone in front as a golden opportunity was missed as Wade made a last ditch save.
Moments later Salisbury substitute Nick Menning ran on to a through ball and showed great poise to put the Whites back in front. Alex Ferguson then added a third as the course of the game reverted to that in the first half.
Sam Bailey's header made it four before Scott Horton tucked away a fifth. Cooper then added his second before Horton finished off the scoring at 7-1 with a spectacular thirty yard lob.
Laverstock's performance showed a great deal of pride and McDonald's first half performance earned him the man of the match, but it was Salisbury City who ran out deserved winners.

TYRO TREBLE FOR WHITES
REPORT - ROB WADE
SALISBURY City under 11s all conquering season shows little sign of abating as they lifted the Tyro Cup and Tyro League title on consecutive days.
On Sunday they lifted the Tyro Cup with an emphatic 4-0 win over Hedge End Rangers. The match played out at AFC Totton's ground saw goals from Charlie Burden, Richie Cooper and Sam Bailey (2) ease them to victory.
This was their second piece of silverware in a week after securing the Hampshire Cup, as reported here on Sport4Salisbury, last week.
The third trophy was not long in coming their way either as Monday's league win over Hythe & Dibden Harriers saw them clinch the Tyro League with two games to spare. The result was another 4-0 win with double strikes from Cooper and Dolan.
That Monday night win was incredibly their thirteenth fixture in just twenty four days! Between the Hampshire Cup and Tyro Cup wins they had also managed to squeeze in games with Hythe & Dibden Jets and Winchester City Youth!
The Jets had caused the Whites' defence as many problems as they have had all season and the opposition probably edged a keenly contested first half with keeper Tom Roberts forced into a couple of fine saves. With ten minutes left City's one hundred per cent winning record was rescued by late goals from Bradlee Walton and Alex Ferguson. The Winchester Youth game saw a 4-0 win for the Whites with goals from Richie Cooper (2), Sam Dolan and Bradlee Walton.
There is no let up for the boys though as Thursday sees them chasing their fourth trophy when they face Laverstock and Ford's Badger League winners in the Nadder Valley Cup final at Bemerton Heath Harlequins' ground.
Match report from Hampshire Fa . com website:
Hampshire FA Sunday U11 Cup Final
Christchurch Youth 0 - 4 Salisbury City Youth
The first few minutes were dominated by early pressure from Salisbury City pushing forward and in the fifth minute Sam Bailey for Salisbury shot wide from 20 yards.
In the next attack Sam Dolan shot into the Christchurch keeper's hands Salisbury gained their third corner of the game by the 10th minute from which Sam Bailey shot over from 5 yards.
In the 11th minute, Oliver Davis of Christchurch evaded two challenges on a mazey run before being dispossessed. A minute later he also heads a shot into the keepers hands. Ollie Balmer copied the run by Davis, tricking his way into the box causing panic before the ball was cleared by the Salisbury defence.
Sam Dolan scored a right footed shot into the roof of the net from 12 yards in the 15th minute. With 20 minutes gone, Bradlee Walton of Salisbury had his shot blocked by Brandon Kotkowski of Christchurch after a great solo run.
Charlie Burden dribbled passed two Christchurch players to find Richie Cooper with a great pass only for him to shoot over the crossbar. Salisbury's next attack came from the ever present Sam Dolan, whose shot made Declan Johnson stretch to his limit to save.
Play resumed with the game passing from end to end without either side gaining more possession than the other. By the 40th minute, Christchurch Youth pushed forward in numbers to bolster their attack. Then came a swift response, with Billy Ward of Salisbury playing a great cross from the left wing with no-one able to connect and shoot.
In the next counter attack, Richie cooper shot over the bar. In the 45th minute, Olivia Watts from Christchurch made three passes to teammates, all of which were successfully received but then subsequently lost by the players. Thomas Cole was then dispossessed by Richie Cooper of Salisbury who was responsible for clearing two attacks in as many minutes. In the 48th minute, Ollie Balmer played a great pass to Harry Chapman, whose angled shot was well saved in the Salisbury goal by Tom Roberts.
Alex Ferguson scored at the second attempt from a right wing pass from Richie Cooper, shooting in from close range. Christchurch continued to push forward chasing the game to try and get on the score sheet. On the 53rd minute, Richie Cooper played in Bradlee Walton in the next counter attack for him to score from 8 yards. Alex Ferguson now features in the next attack, only for him to shoot wide from 12 yards. Sam Muge, Salisburys left back had his shot well saved by Declan Johnson in the 59th minute. Tom Farwell scores Salisburys fourth goal after his first shot rebounded back into his path.

CHRISTCHURCH YOUTH (BYFL) 0 V 4 SALISBURY CITY YOUTH
Match Report Rob Wade
SALISBURY City under 11s became the first team from the Wiltshire area to win the Hampshire County Cup on Sunday, when they ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Christchurch Youth.
The Whites, as detailed by Sport4Salisbury last week, have had a hectic schedule of fixtures ahead of their prestigious date at the Winklebury Stadium in Basingstoke, but they rose to the occasion in fine style.
A tight opening to the game saw chances at both ends. The skill and trickery of Billy Ward and Ritchie Cooper immediately posed problems for the Christchurch defence, whilst Salisbury's defence held firm with keeper William Wade thwarting an early Christchurch effort.
As the first half progressed the central defence of captain Kieren Edginton and Charlie Rayfield was rock solid and Salisbury began to dominate as Charlie Burden and Sam Bailey took control of the midfield.
Midway through the half the breakthrough came as Sam Dolan latched on to a through ball and produced a stunning finish from the outside the area. Salisbury continued to dominate with backs Bradlee Walton and Ben Bradwell pushing forward down the flanks to good effect, but no further goals were added before the break.
City needed the second goal to settle any remaining nerves and it was duly provided as sub Alex Ferguson tucked a chance away. Third substitute Scott Horton continued to cause problems for Christchurch as the Whites pushed for further goals, whilst replacement keeper Tom Roberts had little to do at the other end.
With time running out, Salisbury's fitness kicked into overdrive and Bradlee Walton and Tom Farwell put the game beyond doubt at 4-0. Salisbury's final substitute Sam Muge almost added a fifth in stoppage time.
Tyro Challenge Cup Quarter Final

SALISBURY CITY YOUTH 6 v 1 WINCHESTER YOUTH A
Match Report Rob Wade
SALISBURY City under 11s continued their successful season with a 6-1 home win over Winchester Youth in their Tyro Cup Quarter-Final on Sunday.
The first half was a tight affair with Winchester causing the Whites as much trouble as they have had from any team all season.
Both defences were at full stretch as the sides battled for supremacy. Chances came and went for both sides, before Bradlee Walton's penalty saw City take the lead. This became 3-0 by the half-time break with goals from Billy Ward direct from a corner and Richie Cooper.
The home side's dominance strengthened after the break and a rout looked on the cards as Salisbury extended their lead to six with goals from Charlie Burden, Sam Bailey and Kieren Edginton. However, to their credit Winchester Youth finished the match strongly and a stunning long range effort gave them some deserved consolation in defeat.
Salisbury now face Pace Youth Pumas in the semi-final next Sunday.
Tyro Challenge Cup 2nd round
March 07th 2010
EASTLEIGH YOUTH 1 V 6 SALISBURY CITY YOUTH
Match Report Rob Wade
SALISBURY City Under 11s continued their 100% winning record this season with a 6-1 away success over Eastleigh in the Tyro Cup.
The scoreline was hard on the hosts who had played their part in an entertaining contest.
With conditions difficult under foot, both sides did well to play some passing football in a well contested opening 15 minutes. As the half went on though the Whites began to take control with the running of Tom Farwell through the centre and Billy Ward on the right a constant threat to the home defence. Richie Cooper broke the deadlock with a well struck shot from the left side of the area and shortly after the lead was doubled as Bradlee Walton converted from the spot after a disputed handball in the area.
Salisbury took control in the second half and it was no surprise when they went 3-0 up as Alex Ferguson curled a shot over the Eastleigh keeper. However, the home side were not making it easy and they struck back as they caught Salisbury with a quick counter attack. William Wade tipped the shot onto the post and as defender Sam Muge prepared to clear it he was sent flying into the back of the net.
Salisbury, clearly unhappy at the controversial concession, hit back in fine style though and further goals from Bradlee Walton, Ben Bradwell and Sam Dolan sent them into the next round with a convincing 6-1 win
Hampshire County Cup SEMI FINAL
SUNDAY 14TH FEB 2010
UNITED SERVICES PORTSMOUTH 0 V 3 SALISBURY CITY YOUTH
Match Report Rob Wade
Salisbury City Under 11s swept into the Hampshire Cup Final with a confident display against a spirited United Services Portsmouth team.
The semi-final, played out at US Portsmouth's Whale Island home had a tight opening as two talented midfields battled for supremacy. The home side, despite a fair share of possession, failed to create any clear cut openings, whereas Salisbury were a constant threat with the pace of Sam Dolan and the trickery of Richie Cooper up front posing a constant threat.
Despite a lot of pressure and several corners, the Whites failed to hit the net until an opportunity fell to Sam Bailey, who lashed the ball home off the underside of the crossbar.
The hosts came out firing at the start of the second half but still failed to muster a shot on the visitors' goal. Salisbury, however, were always a threat and midway through the second half Sam Dolan doubled their lead when he latched onto a defensive error to crash the ball home from the edge of the box.
City's supreme fitness levels kept them going to the end and the only remaining question was whether they could add to the winning margin.
Five minutes from the end Tom Farwell's struck an unerring drive from outside the area into the corner of the goal to secure a clinical 3-0
win.
Hampshire County Cup QUARTER FINAL
SUNDAY 07TH FEB 2010
SALISBURY CITY YOUTH 4 V 0 MEON MILTON
Match Report Rob Wade
Salisbury City Under 11s cruised into the semi-finals of the prestigious Hampshire Cup following a 4-0 win over Meon Milton.
Against increasingly tough opposition, City were indebted to a fine team display culminating in terrific goals.
Sam Dolan opened the scoring when he burst through and chipped the goalie, before Sam Bailey headed home a Tom Farwell corner to end the first half with a comfortable 2-0 lead. The visitors were certainly competing in the middle of the park, but rarely fashioned any clear goal scoring opportunities against a watertight Whites' defence.
A superb third goal at the start of the second half wrapped the victory up as Sam Dolan and Ritchie Cooper passed their way through the Milton defence from their own half before Dolan notched his second goal. Cooper then put the icing on the cake in the final minute as he scored a free kick to make the final score 4-0.
128 teams started the Hampshire Cup competition and now Salisbury City are in the final four. Standing in their way will be United Services Portsmouth. The tricky away trip will take place on Sunday 14th February with a place in the Hampshire Cup Final at stake.
Hampshire County Cup 4th Round
SUNDAY 24th January 2010
SALISBURY CITY YOUTH 9 V 0 POMPEY PIRATES
Match Report Rob Wade
Salisbury City Under 11s finally got 2010 underway as they moved into the Hampshire Cup quarter-finals with a comprehensive 9-0 win over Pompey Pirates.
After having won their 3rd round tie after four postponements, it was somewhat of a relief to only have this 4th round tie called off three times!
Pompey Pirates arrived in confident mood and their pre-Xmas form suggested a tight game, but any fears the Salisbury contingent had were swiftly put to bed, as City's youngsters came racing out of the starting blocks. Billy Ward opened the scoring following good work from Alex Ferguson and then Sam Dolan doubled the lead, tapping home after Ferguson's shot was parried. The visitors then enjoyed their best period of the game but rarely made any headway through the well-drilled Salisbury back line. Billy Ward's speed inside the box earned City a penalty which Bradlee Walton coolly converted and then just before the break, Walton struck his second with a free-kick from just outside the area. The 4-0 half-time lead was no more than Salisbury's dominance deserved.
The second half brought no reprieve for the Pirates as Alex Ferguson latched on to a defensive error to make it a nap hand. Sam Bailey's clinical finish made it 6-0 before Billy Ward, Ritchie Cooper and a long-range Scott Horton effort wrapped up a 9-0 triumph.
The Whites will now be looking forward to some dry weather to reduce their fixture backlog.
Hampshire County Cup 3rd Round
SUNDAY 13th December 2009
SALISBURY CITY YOUTH 4 V 0 WOOLTON HILL ARGYLE
Match Report Rob Wade
Salisbury City Under 11s moved into the last 16 of the Hampshire Cup with a comfortable win over opponents Woolton Hill Argyle.
The 3rd round tie had been cancelled for four successive weeks but at the fifth time of asking, conditions just about prevailed at Salisbury's Sherfield English base, and the Whites secured a controlled 4-0 win.
After a bright start from both sides, City began to get on top. Billy Ward was causing much consternation for the visitors with his pace and trickery down the left flank and it was he who created City's opening goal, when he was tripped in the area. Bradlee Walton duly obliged from the penalty spot. Within two minutes, City were 2-0 up as a flowing move culminated in a clinical Alex Ferguson finish. The visitors continued to battle but it was all one way traffic and Sam Bailey added a third from the right hand side of the box just before half-time.
Into the second half and it was more of the same, as the hosts produced some flowing football without quite finding their killer touch in front of goal. Credit though has to be given to the visitors for their refusal to buckle and the keeper's heroics climaxed in a sharp penalty save. Woolton Hill only once managed to get sight of the Salisbury goal, but, despite outstripping the final defender, the centre forward could not get past the advancing William Wade.
Salisbury wrapped up the win with their fourth shortly before the end when Richie Cooper coolly slotted home in a crowded goalmouth.
The 4-0 win means that Salisbury City now head to Portsmouth for a last 16 encounter with Pompey Pirates next Sunday.
Tyro League Division One
SUNDAY 08th November 2009
City Central Youth 0 V 5 SALISBURY CITY YOUTH
Match Report Rob Wade
After three weeks without a game, Salisbury City Under 11s returned to Tyro League action with their visit to Fleming Park,Eastleigh to take on City Central Youth.
The first half was a scrappy tight affair with the hosts displaying some nice neat passing but failing to test the Whites' defence or keeper. Despite being far from their best, Salisbury created chances and Sam Dolan latched on to one of these to fire high into the roof of the net for the only goal of the first half.
The Whites dominated the second half and stretched the opposition down left and right flanks. Alex Ferguson finished off a couple of flowing moves to make it 3-0 before Sam Bailey's long range effort left the City Central keeper helpless for 4-0. There was still time for a fifth and for Ferguson to seal his hat trick.
Tyro League Division One
SUNDAY 04th October 2009
SALISBURY CITY YOUTH 10 V 1 SKY BLUES YOUTH
Match Report Rob Wade
Salisbury City under 11s moved to the top of the Tyro League after their demolition of Sky Blues.
In their first game at their new Sherfield English home, the Whites quickly asserted their authority. First goal came when the Salisbury attack shifted the ball beautifully across the area to open space up for Sam Dolan to slot home. They went 2-0 up when a Billy Ward corner was met by a firm Bradlee Walton header and minutes later Bradlee added the third when he floated a shot over the keeper. Before half-time the Whites added two more as a Ben Bradwell bullet made it 4-0 and then a bit of magic as Sam Bailey volleyed the goalkeeper’s goal kick back past him from fully 40 yards.
The Sky Blues team which had lost both their previous fixtures never rolled over and competed well in the middle of the park but they could not break through the City defence of Kieran Edginton, Charlie Rayfield, Sam Muge and keeper William Wade and similarly struggled to cope with the pace and power of Billy Ward, Sam Dolan and Richie Cooper up front.
The central midfield was ruled by Charlie Burden and he was he who added the sixth from the edge of the area. Sam Dolan added his second after great work from Billy Ward and then after Sky Blues had registered their first two corners of the game, Kieran Edginton lashed home an eighth. After Charlie Burden had hit the crossbar, Sam Bailey smashed home the ninth.
Sky Blues then got some consolation when a free kick was deflected in, but the scoring was not complete and Sam Dolan rounded the keeper to roll home his hat-trick and a 10-1 win.
The result was a kick in the teeth for the Sky Blues’ keeper who was heroic in his efforts, could not be faulted at all for any of the goals and made many last ditch saves
Tyro League Division One
SUNDAY 27th September 2009
Pace Youth 1 V 3 Salisbury City
Match Report Rob Wade
Salisbury City under 11s maintained their perfect record this season but they were given a fright and a battle by a determined Pace Youth.
Salisbury’s second Tyro League game saw them pitted against the same side they had put of the Tyro Cup 5-0 a week earlier and Pace were clearly desperate to set the record straight during an excellent first half display. Pace were first to the ball, stronger in the tackle and outplayed the Whites for long periods. With 20 minutes of the first half gone, Pace got the reward they deserved as they went 1-0 up thanks to a fine strike that gave Tom Roberts no chance.
The Whites looked a totally different side in the second half and began to exert more consistent pressure. As the half went on and with Salisbury taking total control of the midfield, the home side retreated deeper and deeper. With 15 minutes left the equaliser finally came as Ben Bradwell latched on to a fine cross from Richie Cooper to bury a superb first time half volley.
The goal did not affect the flow of the game as Salisbury launched wave after wave of attack. The second Salisbury goal came when Billy Ward floated in a dangerous freekick from the right and as the defence hesitated, Sam Dolan nipped through the crowd to nod Salisbury into the lead. The game was wrapped up when Riche Cooper coolly slotted home the third for a 3-1 win.
Tyro Challenge Cup 1st Round
SUNDAY 20th September 2009
Pace Youth 0 V 5 Salisbury City
Match Report Rob Wade
Salisbury City under 11s endured their first real test of the season and came through it with flying colours as they knocked Pace Youth out of the Tyro Challenge Cup.
With three players out, the Whites were down to just 11 players available, including both keepers! Manager Chris Burden shuffled his pack for the visit to the only side to defeat his team last season.
The match had a tense opening as both sides passed the ball about nicely but without really creating chances. It was clear from early on though that the Whites’ defence would be busy for the first time this season. The early ebb and flow was typified when no sooner had Ben Bradwell struck the post at one end, than Kieren Edginton was making a superb last ditch sliding tackle at the other.
The breakthrough came when a Billy Ward corner was met with a Sam Bailey glancing header for 1-0. The midfield battle was red hot with both sides giving nothing and Charlie Burden, Ben Bradwell and Sam Bailey having to work overtime to break up the Pace passing game.
Towards the middle of the first half Salisbury began to exert their authority and after coming close with a couple of electric breaks, Richie Cooper added the second as he nodded home from close range.
After missing the chance to go further clear from the spot after Bradlee Walton’s run was ended unceremoniously by the keeper, Pace got back into the game. The central defence of Kieren Edginton and Charlie Rayfield worked hard to keep the lively centre forward out, whilst full backs Sam Muge and William Wade did well to reduce any threat out wide and help out in the middle.
The half-time team talk centred on starting the second half fast and that is certainly the way it turned out as Richie Cooper broke through and cutely curled one home from the left hand side. Shortly after and it was game over as Bradlee Walton battled his way through the defence and drew the keeper before squaring the ball for Cooper to complete this hat trick.
Pace to their credit did not give up and forced a good amount of pressure with Tom Roberts having to be lively and making a couple of decent saves.
The icing on the cake was provided in the last few minutes as Billy Ward provided a neat finish to Richie Cooper’s cross.
City face Pace Youth in the league next week, same time same place, and will have to be on their guard. Pace played well and are a good side but with the same level of commitment in defence and same clinical finishing the Whites will hope to march on.

Brading Youth Colts 0 v 15 Salisbury City Youth
Match Report by Rob Wade
Salisbury City Under 11s stormed into the 2nd Round of the Hampshire Cup after a stunning demolition of Isle of Wight side Brading.
It took only two minutes for City to register their first goal as Ben Bradwell latched onto a loose ball to crash home a superb volley. Under constant pressure from attack after attack, the Brading defence were indecisive and the keeper hesitant, as Richie Cooper with another 4 goals, Sam Bailey, Tom Farwell, and Billy Ward sent City in 8-0 up at half-time.
The Brading midfield battled hard but made little headway against Charlie Burden, the instigator of so many attacks. At the back Charlie Rayfield and Kieren Edginton were as dependable as ever, whilst keeper William Wade was largely a spectator. Full backs Sam Muge and Ben Bradwell spent as much time joining in the attacks as in defence.
The second half saw much of the same as the goals rained in. Billy Ward, Bradlee Walton, Sam Dolan, Tom Farwell twice and Alex Ferguson twice all added to the tally as the score finished 15-0. Credit to Brading for keeping going to the end and a much better last quarter display kept the score down!
Salisbury have a home draw in round two with Winchester Youth the visitors on 11th October.
SUNDAY 6th September 2009
Hythe & Dibden Youth Harriers 0 v 11 Salisbury City Youth
Match Report by Rob Wade
Hythe & Dibden was the venue for the Salisbury City Under 11s first Tyro league match and after a tour of the local area, the team arrived in plenty of time for a good warm-up. The weather was warm, the pitch was ok and the goals were not full size, a much better size giving the keepers at least some chance of making saves.
Despite the lads’ terrific pre-season form, manager Chris Burden admitted to some pre-match nerves, but he need not have worried as his side tore into the opposition from the first whistle and it was not long before the goals began to rain in.
First on the scoresheet was Richie Cooper as he continued his hot goalscoring form since joining the Whites with an angled shot from the left which found the bottom corner. Next up was Sam Bailey, as usual in the right place at the right time. Richie added number three with a bullet strike from the edge of the area, then Billy Ward got on the scoresheet finishing off a great run and cross by Alex Ferguson. Sam Bailey then added his second before Alex finally got reward for his darting runs down the right when he cut into the box and fired across the keeper into the net.
Half-time - 6-0 and jaffa cakes! It was a well earned rest for the lads and in particular for the Harriers’ keeper who had fought a lone and valiant battle against the City onslaught. In contrast, City keeper William Wade was asked if he would like a drink but replied he would prefer a chair, such was his inactivity during the match which saw the Harriers only reach the City penalty area three times – two clearances and one touch – no saves!
The second half began with more relentless attacking and at first it seemed as though the score would get out of control. The Harriers’ players looked weary and outfaced by the thought of another 30 minutes. However, they kept going and battled to the end.
The midfield was Charlie Burden and Sam Bailey’s domain and their tireless tackling and prompting brought wave after wave of attack. At the back Kieren Edginton and Charlie Rayfield ruled the roost with the Harriers finding no way through to goal. Down the flanks, Ben Bradwell and Sam Muge were solid in defence and terrific in attack, with constant runs down the flanks causing the Harriers’ defence no end of problems.
Up front Sam Dolan, Alex Ferguson and Billy Ward ran the Harriers’ back line ragged. Goals in the second half came from Richie Cooper twice more, Sam Bailey completing his hattrick with yet another header, Charlie Rayfield a rare but blistering strike from the edge of the area and Kieren Edginton joining his central defence partner on the scoresheet.
Tom Farwell, struggling with a slight strain, had a quick five minute run out and his first touch was the assist for Sam’s headed goal.
All in all, a more than satisfactory start - 11-0 can’t be sniffed at!
archive news 09/10
JUNE 30TH - Hello everybody, hope you have a had a nice break from the weekly matters concerned with our Salisbury City Tyro Squad and are looking forward to the new season.
The management has been in touch and I am pleased to announce that pre season training
will begin on: FRIDAY 16TH JULY - at 1815 hrs outside the Ray McEnhill Stadium.
The first meeting for the coming 2010 / 2011 season will be a Training and Induction Session.
As well as bringing the boys back to start preparations for the season ahead it will also be a chance for management to discuss club matters such as plans for the coming season, what will be expected from the boys (and maybe even the parents), how much subs will be and when they need to be paid, do we need a new kit and what new training equipment might we need to purchase from club funds etc etc. Basically, this Training / Induction session is (forgive the pun)
to get the ball rolling, for what we hope will be another successful season for our squad.
The following week after this first session, training will be on: WEDNESDAY 21ST JULY - 1815 HRS (OUTSIDE RAY MAC STADIUM), this is due to many of the boys having school leaving events on the Friday of this week.
The training after Wednesday 21st July will be on FRIDAY 30TH JULY (same time and place) and will then be every Friday at 1815 hrs outside the Ray Mac Stadium until further notice.
One last thing, if you know when you will taking your summer vacations this year, it would be very helpful if you could let the club know what dates you will not be available for training and friendlies throughout late July and August. If possible, could you please let us know at the first training / induction session, this would be appreciated, as it will give the management some idea of the best time to arrange things. Thank you.
MAY 19th - Club Presentation Update - as noted on the home page, there has been a change to the voting. Players Player is still decided by our boys but at a meeting with the Salisbury City Youth Section, last night, Chris was informned that Clubman would be chosen by the managers and coaches and that the parents were to cast their vote for SUPPORTERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR. So instead of Clubman, you now need to name a player of the year, so go on, write it down, who's your favourite? Where's your vote going? Sorry to mess you about but i'm only passing on the updates - don't shoot the messenger.
A few other things - on the food front, A barbeque or two will be provided and Chris intends to get some burgers and sausages but in the event he does not or you don't like his choice, its advisable that you bring along some barbeque bits and pieces (burgers, baps, etc) for you and your immediate family, just in case. This is in addition to any food you are bringing along for the club spread. Also, as we are going to be there for a few hours (outside, before going in for the presentation), don't forget to bring yourself some folding chairs or picnic rugs to sit about on and as the long range weather forecast promises it's going to be sunny, don't forget something to keep your drinks cool. Remember to check back here at the site for any updates leading up to the presentation itself.
MAY 18th - MATCH OF THE DAY MAGAZINE. Our boys have an article in this weeks MOTD glossy mag (issue 112) which costs £1.99 and is available from any decent newsagents.
How it came about - before the Butlins Football Festival, i told Billy that while we were there i'd take a team photo and a team "bonkers" photo and that if the boys did well at the tournament i'd try to get them featured in the Match Of The Day mag which he gets every week and which has a "local team" section. On return and seeing as we'd won the tournament i got in touch with Match Of The Day mag, sent them some photos and info and waited. I didn't hold out much hope but then i got an email back saying they liked the photos i'd sent and could i answer a few questions. This i did, still not holding out a lot of hope but today, at last, the article was featured in the mag. Get your copy while stocks last!
A couple of things: I actually put Style of Play as: Pass, Move, Attack but they just put "passing",
i also gave them the managers name: Chris Burden but they left this out (most probaby didn't want to offend the Tyro League - only joking!) and for funniest moment i put:
"when Billy got his tracksuit top stuck under his chin moments before a cup match, in retrospect, the steam coming out of the managers ears was also quite funny" but they shortened this to what you see in the mag. I'd also mentioned the Quintuple which wasn't used but you can't have everything and they were certainly decent enough to give us a mention in their popular weekly. Anyway, seeing as our boys are in it, it makes a nice souvenir at the end of a successful season and to feature in a glossy mag that gets distributed all over Britain and beyond, in this our presentation week, is what you call good timing. Job Done!
MAY 17th - To answer a question that came up about voting - When voting for this years clubman, it is one vote per family, therefor if you are a one parent family you get one vote and if you are a couple you also get one vote, between you (not two votes), the manager, Chris, also said that the idea and spirit of the vote is to vote for a boy other than your own, otherwise, if we all voted for our own child there would be no winner.
MAY 15th -
PRESENTATION EVENING : SATURDAY MAY 22ND
with the club presentation evening less than a week away, it is time to put your thinking caps on and make a couple of choices for 2 categories.
1st Category: PLAYERS PLAYER - each boy in the squad needs to think about and name who he wants to be the players player of the year. This is your boys choice to make and once he has made it, please write the name down under the heading "Players Player".
2nd Category: CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR - this is to be chosen by the parents, you need to name the boy you think is deserving of this title (yes, we know, after the season they have had all the boys deserve the title but a choice has to be made), it's for the boy you think always gives his all both on the pitch and / or at training, who conducts himself well whether playing or not, who is punctual, keen to learn and a credit to the club etc etc. Once you've come to a decision, please write the name down under the heading "Clubman of the Year".
NEXT - Place this piece of paper in an envelope and bring it along with you to the presentation evening. The 2 names under their categories can be on the same piece of paper
PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO BRING THIS WITH YOU ON PRESENTATION DAY.
Your envelope will be collected off you on arrival at 5pm so that the votes can be added up.
If you will not be arriving until later in the evening (after 6 oclock) please try to send your envelopes / votes along with someone else or as a last resort, text your vote to manager Chris.
One last thing, FOOD! - Chris has asked us to make sure the parents know what they are supposed to be bringing on the Food front, so, Sarah will be contacting parents (over the next few days) via email / facebook / text etc just to make sure that we are all bringing along different items of food etc and who's bringing what. See you there then, if theres anything else the management want you to know, i'm sure they'll either be in touch or we'll put it up here over the days leading up to the presentation. Thanks for your attention.
MAY 14th - Salisbury City Youth 4 - 2 Pace Youth Pumas. Last nights win meant we have gone the whole season undefeated and that is some achievement. If the Pace Pumas had won last night they would have come runners up in the league but their defeat meant Pace Youth took that honour. Even though the Pumas got themselves two goals tonight, they didn't seem their usual determined selves for some reason and in the end it was a deserved win for our boys and what a goal from Sam Bailey (smashing a long range shot into the net with his left foot) to finish off the game and finish off our goal scoring for this season. Well done boys, you deserve any accolades that come your way and congratualations to the Manager, coaching and backroom staff, not forgetting Ian Bradwell who deserves a mention for putting himself forward each week as a linesman (which can't be easy when you've got opposition (and sometimes your own) parents and/or coaches shouting criticism in your direction), so, well done and thanks to Ian.
Scorers for Salisbury: Alex Ferguson, Tom Farwell, Sam Dolan, Sam Bailey
MAY 09th - Salisbury City Youth 7 v 0 City Central. In the penultimate match of the season our boys carried on their winning streak by comfortably beating the opponents from Southampton.
Scorers for Salisbury: Sam Bailey 2, Alex Ferguson, Richie Cooper, Ben Bradwell, Charlie Burden and not forgetting the goal by our goalie TOM ROBERTS who had a spell as a forward player today and found the net!
May 6th - PLENTY OF BUTLINS RELATED PHOTOS NOW IN GALLERY AND SLIDESHOW.
Report of Hants Fa Cup Final from Hants Fa website, now in Match Reports.
MAY 4th - Hope everyone got back from Butlins Minehead safely and managed to avoid any traffic jams. Just letting you know that we are going through our snapshots and will put them up as and when - IF YOU NOTICE THAT THE GALLERY HAS DISSAPEARED AT ANYTIME IT'S BECAUSE WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING IT.
APRIL 26TH - THE EVENING SALISBURY CITY YOUTH WRAPPED UP TYRO DIVISION ONE WITH TWO GAMES TO GO AND MADE IT A BRILLIANT TREBLE WINNING SEASON AFTER THE RECENT GREAT CUP DOUBLE. COME ON BOYS, ONE MORE PUSH ON THURSDAY NIGHT AND THE TREBLE COULD BECOME A QUADRUPLE TO SEND US ON OUR WAY TO BUTLINS MINEHEAD FOR THE FESTIVAL OF FOOTBALL.
FINAL SCORE: SALISBURY CITY 4 V 0 HYTHE + DIBDEN HARRIERS
Scorers for Salisbury: Richie Cooper 2, Sam Dolan 2
APRIL 25th - TYRO CHALLENGE CUP FINAL
SALISBURY CITY YOUTH 4 v 0 HEDGE END RANGERS A
Scorers for Salisbury: Charlie Burden, Richie Cooper, Sam Bailey 2
Some good goals from our boys in this one, the goalie never had a chance with Sam Baileys
net busters "pick that one out!" someone said as the ball headed goalwards like a rocket!
Man of the match: Sam Bailey
APRIL 22ND - WINCHESTER YOUTH A 0 V 4 SALISBURY CITY YOUTH
Our 8th game in 15 days and overall a comfortable victory with some good football being played by our boys in all parts of the pitch. A couple of great strikes by Richie, a well taken goal by Sam and a penalty by Bradlee meant 0-4 and means we are now 2 points clear at the top of Tyro Div One
Scorers for Salisbury: Richie Cooper 2, Sam Dolan, Bradlee Walton
APRIL 21ST - "Those 2 points were massive!" says our manager after our boys went away to the Hythe + Dibden Jets and come away with another win under their belts that also took us to the top of Tyro Div One on goal difference and three games in hand over 2nd place Pace youth. A great couple of days then - Hants Cup Final victory on Sunday and a move to the top of the League on Tuesday. This match against the Jets was a hard won affair with the score
0-0 at half time and chances spurned at both ends. Second half was similar but with Salisbury getting more and more into the game and after Bradlee headed in a corner from Richie our boys pressed even more against a Jets team who never gave up, a 2nd goal from Alex gave us a bit of breathing space and 0 - 2 is how it finished. That was our 7th game in 13 days!. The boys continue to get win after win. After the match the Jets manager congratulated our boys on their Hants Cup Final win and said if our boys win the league after the fixture pile up they have been faced with they should get a special medal made for them. You've just got to agree.
Scorers for Salisbury: Bradlee Walton, Alex Ferguson
April 19th - Hampshire County FA Cup Final : Christchurch Youth 0 v 4 Salisbury City Youth.
A great result for our boys yesterday who after a great goal from Sam Dolan, had to be patient and work hard to try and get another. The wait for the second goal came in the second half when Alex scored after coming on as substitute, then it was Bradlee's turn to score and then to finish off the scoring, Tom Farwell. Christchurch Youth did have a couple of breaks where they were unlucky not to score but we ourselves had quite a few chances that on another day could have gone in. Richie Cooper was awarded man of the match before Kieren Edginton, our captain, stepped up to lift the trophy. After a cup run that began back in September with a trip to Brading on the Isle Of Wight, we were now Hampshire County Cup Winners! Reading the Roll of Honour on the Cup itself was proof indeed that our boys are the first Salisbury team to win this particular trophy. Well done boys, you deserved it!
Scorers for Salisbury: Sam Dolan, Alex Ferguson, Bradlee Walton, Tom Farwell.
A big thank you to Nick Holmes (who himself won an FA Cup winners medal when Southampton beat Manchester Unted in the 1976 FA Cup Final) for taking time to come and watch our boys in the final and congratulate them on their victory. As soon as we've sorted through the photos we will put some up.
Next up a couple of league games, where, if the results go our way, will see us go top of the league before the Tyro League Cup Final next Sunday
APRIL 16th - Salisbury City Youth 2 v 1 Hythe+Dibden Jets.
Scorer for Salisbury: Richie Cooper
We are now only 2 points behind league leaders Pace Yth and we have 4 games in hand plus a superior goal difference.
This period of games (we've just played 5 games in 8 days with more to come) would have seen most other teams falter and drop points but our boys "never say die" spirit is doing everyone associated with our club proud. Enjoy your Hampshire Cup Final boys, you well and truly deserve it, your coaching staff and parents are proud of you all. COME ON YOU WHITES!
If you were wondering what has happened to Rob Wades match reports, there have not been many of late due to the ammount of matches we've been playing in a short space of time. These things do take time to put together (as we well know) and with other committments it isn't always possible to give up to the minute updates but Rob has put together a Hants Cup Final preview of sorts for his Salisbury4Sports column and below is the main part of it.
"SALISBURY City Youth's under 11s' tremendous season continues on Sunday when they take on Christchurch Youth in the Hampshire Cup Final.
The Whites have a 100-per-cent record in all competitions this term and, due to their success and the amount of matches postponed during the winter months, are currently facing a punishing schedule to complete thier fixtures.
Sunday's final at Basingstoke's Winklebury Stadium will be their sixth match in just 12 days and the first of three final appearances having also reached the Tyro Cup and the Nadder Valley Cup showpiece games.
In the past nine days the Whites enjoyed a thumping 16-0 win away to Sky Blues, which included a seven goal salvo by Tom Farwell.
This was followed by a 3-0 success at home to league leaders Pace Youth, where Billy Ward scored a stunning opener.
The third success was the tricky away tie to title challengers Pace Pumas, where Salisbury came from behind with three late goals to win 3-1 courtesy of Billy Ward, Sam Bailey and Tom Farwell.
Next came a 3-0 victory over Winchester Youth, where Sam Dolan crashed the opening goal to settle any nerves.
Finally the boys enjoyed a 2-1 home win against Hythe & Dibden Jets, both goals coming in the first five minutes from Ritchie Cooper.
The youngsters can now concentrate on looking forward to their big cup final date. "
Management duo Chris Burden and Jonny Rayfield accept the hectic fixture list has taken its toll.
Burden said: “The boys have been first class. The commitment and effort has been incredible.”
Rayfield added: “I’ve never known any team play five games in nine days and so to come through it as they have is tremendous."
APRIL 14th - Last night saw yet another match in our squads busy schedule, another match against Winchester Yth (our third meeting this season) and another win for our boys. Our 2 goals in the first half came when Sam Dolan raced clear of the Winchester defence to smash the ball home, the 2nd another well struck goal from Sam Bailey. Towards the end of the second half Ben got our third when he floated the ball over their goalie from the edge of he area. The two points earned saw our boys jump from 4th to 2nd in the league and we still have 5 games in hand over leaders Pace Youth who only have one more game to play (against Pace Youth Pumas).
Final Score: Salisbury City 3 v 0 Winchester Youth.
Scorers for Salisbury: Sam Dolan, Sam Bailey, Ben Bradwell
APRIL 11th - Tyro Div One - Pace Youth Pumas 1 v 3 Salisbury City Youth. After having to dig deep to get a result against the Pumas in the Tyro Cup Semi final, our boys had to do the same again this morning at the Testwood Sports College. Pace were well up for this game and from the off you could see how determined they were to get a result against our boys, they played some good football to put our defence under pressure and they got the first goal and defended their lead for the first half. In the second half our boys started to get into the game more and more but still had to be aware of any Pace breaks but once our boys got the equaliser about a quarter of an hour from the end (after Billy pounced on a dropped ball from their goalie after a fine save from a powerful shot) our boys went up a gear or two and not wanting to settle for a draw they went all out for the win. The second goal wasn't too long in coming when Sam headed in a corner and victory was sealed when a shot from Tom found a bump in the ground and deflected past their keeper.
2 more points on the board and 3 wins in 5 days can't be bad and "the mission continues", so to speak, with a couple more mid week games to play before next Sundays Hampshire Cup Final in Basingstoke and the good news on this front is we could have Bradlee our vice captain back in the squad.
Scorers for Salisbury: Billy Ward, Sam Bailey, Tom Farwell
APRIL 10TH - Tyro Div One - Salisbury City Youth 3 v 0 Pace Youth. We can tick off another game from our busy schedule and mark up another victory. This second game in 3 days saw our boys overcome some stiff competition from another well organised Pace team. A well struck long range shot from open play and two from dead ball situations (a well taken free kick and a cooly taken penalty) saw our boys claim another 2 points and overall it was a good all round team performance
Salisbury scorers: Billy Ward, Richie Coooper, Sam Bailey
APRIL 08th - Tyro Div One - Sky Blues Youth 0 v 16 Salisbury City Youth. This was the first League game in a few months, maybe even the first league match for us this year (and we are now in April!) if my memory is correct. The chance to improve our goal difference was taken with this 16 - 0 victory. A good start to what is to be a busy few weeks for the boys with 11 games to be played in 22 days between the 07th - 29th April. A lot of points and a few Cup Finals to be played for and then its off to the Festival of Football at Butlins Minehead. Let the season begin!
Scorers for Salisbury: Sam Bailey, Alex Ferguson (3), Sam Dolan (2), Tom Farwell (7), Sam Muge, Scott Horton, Richie Cooper.
APRIL 1ST - Nadder Valley Cup Semi Final - Salisbury City Youth 5 V 0 South Newton and Wishford. Scorers for Salisbury: Richie Cooper, Tom Farwell, Sam Dolan, Sam Bailey, Charlie Burden

HAMPSHIRE FA SUNDAY UNDER 11 COUNTY CUP FINAL
SPONSORED BY SOCCER TACKLE (HAMPSHIRE)
CHRISTCHURCH YOUTH (BYFL) VS SALISBURY CITY YOUTH
SUNDAY 18TH APRIL 2010
WINKLEBURY FOOTBALL COMPLEX, WINKLEBURY WAY,
BASINGSTOKE, RG23 8BF
KICK OFF - 12.30
MARCH 21st - Tyro Challenge Cup Semi Final. Salisbury City Youth V Pace Youth Pumas.
This was one of the boys toughest matches of the season so far and although our boys were far from their best in the first half (going behind for only the 2nd time this season), they showed their battling qualities in the 2nd half to come back and win 2-1 and take their place in another final (and if we overcome our opponents in the Nadder Valley Cup Semi Final, we will have three finals to look forward to in April)
Scorers for Salisbury: Sam Bailey, Tom Farwell
MARCH 16th - Tuesday Night Floodlit Friendly. Salisbury City Youth U11's 2 v 2 Alderbury U12's. This was, to use the football cliche, a game of two halves. In the first half, Salisbury City looked the more likely to score but Alderbury were always dangerous on the break. Salisbury went into the half time break 2 -1 up. After Salisbury made 5 changes at half time, (to try out a few things) they lost their way for a while and the older boys of Alderbury threatened a bit more and got an equaliser. The result tonight was not the important thing, it was a chance for the manager to try out and look at a some options bearing in mind the ammount of fixtures (Tyro Cup Semi, Nadder Valley Cup Semi, 10 Tyro League matches, a Hampshire Cup Final) that face our boys in the coming weeks (which will mean games on Sunday and more midweek matches). At long last though, it looks like our boys are finally getting a run of games together, without the weather interfering, which can't be bad.
Final score 2-2. Scorers for Salisbury: Alex Ferguson, Billy Ward
MARCH 14th - At long last we got to play a match where the sun was shining and the pitch was in good condition, for the first 15 - 20 minutes of this Tyro Challenge Cup Quarter Final, Winchester Youth A worked hard to keep our boys at bay and tested our defence on a few occasions (one resulting in a great save by our keeper Tom Roberts) but after a well taken penalty (given for handball) by Bradlee Walton and an inswinging corner from Billy Ward that their keeper fumbled into the goal our boys relaxed a bit and began to take more control of the game, it was 3-0 at half time and towards the end of he game when Salisbury were winning
6-0, Winchester got a consolation goal with a great long range strike.
Final score: Salisbury City 6 v 1 Winchester Yth A
Scorers: Bradlee Walton, Billy Ward, Richie Cooper, Charlie Burden, Sam Bailey, Kieren Edginton
MARCH 07th - Tyro Challenge Cup 2nd Round - Eastleigh Youth 1 - Salisbury City Youth 6.
Scorers: Richie Cooper, Bradlee Walton 2, Alex Ferguson, Ben Bradwell, Sam Dolan.
Salisbury City now face Winchester Youth A in the quarter final on March 14th
FEB 21st - Here's what Nick Holmes (Salisbury City FC General Manager - Blue Square Premier League) had to say about our Salisbury City Tyro Squad in his programme notes.
"The Under 11's have made the Hampshire County Cup Final after a 3-0 win against United Services Portsmouth. I have had the pleasure to watch this side a couple of times and they were good. I know their manager would like to produce a player or players good enough for the First Team and they may well succeed." - Nick Holmes
FEB 14th - Hampshire Cup Semi Final - United Services Portsmouth 0 - 3 Salisbury City
Scorers: Sam Bailey, Sam Dolan, Tom Farwell.
FEB 07th - Update - United Services Portsmouth beat St Francis Youth Ranger 0 - 3, so its U.S.P that we face in the semi final of the Hampshire County Cup. This is an away fixture for us. As soon as we get confirmation of the venue, kick off time etc, we can then put up info about the time and place to meet for those going in convoy and time to arrive for people making their own way.
"and the Whites go marching ON! ON! ON!". Once again our boys were a bit too much for our Portsmouth opponents in this Hants Cup Quarter Final. Meon Milton played well but from early on our boys took control of the game . We got the better of them in midfield and when we attacked, did so with speed (Sam Dolan being a thorn in their side up front), Meon Milton were not allowed much time on the ball and when they did attack they were quickly closed down and moved away from our penalty area. After a Salisbury disallowed goal (one of our players was offside and impeding their goalie), our boys went ahead with a Sam Dolan goal after he was played in by Richie Cooper. Sam Bailey was next on the scoresheet after heading in from a Tom Farwell corner. Sam Dolan, then got his second and Salisbury's third before Richie Cooper scored with a well taken free kick. Final score Salisbury City 4 - Meon Milton 0.
Scorers: Sam Dolan 2, Sam Bailey, Richie Cooper
We now have an away trip in the semi final against either St Francis Youth
(from Southampton) or United Services Portsmouth. This is next Sunday (14th Feb).
Our boys are one step from the Hampshire County Cup Final. In a competition that started out with 128 teams, our boys are down to the last 4 teams. Can't be bad! Well done boys!
FEB 05th - Theres not been a lot to report lately due to cancellation of matches but a bit of news i forgot to put up was about our squad boys who play for St Marks school 7 aside team. Last week they took part in the Wiltshire Schools County Cup Tournament at the Stanley Park Football Foundation in Chippenham. They got to this tournament by winning a local area schools tournament at Chalke Valley last year. Anyway, on a bitterly cold day the St Marks boys won their group and then had a semi final match which they won. The final was against Wroughton School, in a close fought final St Marks went on to win 1-0 (the goal being scored by Kieren Edginton) and pick up the Under 11's County Cup. They will now go on and represent Wiltshire in a Inter Counties Tournament. Our squad boys representing St Marks were: Kieren Edginton, Alex Ferguson, Charlie Burden, Billy Ward, William Wade, Sam Muge and Keenan Waters. Representing Harnham school who went out in the group stage on goal difference was Bradlee Walton.
Even though we didn't get to play our quarter final match last week and most other matches were called off as well, a couple of matches did go ahead. In our Tyro League Div One,
Winchester Youth A were beaten 0-4 by Pace Youth who now sit top of our league with 16 points having played 10 matches (6 more than us!) and in one of the other quarter final matches of the Hampshire Cup Christchurch Youth beat Sandhurst Town 0-5 to go through to the semi finals.
JAN 24th - After a lengthy break due to what seemed like never ending bad weather, it was back to buisness in the 4th round of the Hants Cup against the Pompey Pirates. Considering how long it had been since our boys last played a competetive match, i think both coaching staff and parents were eager to see how they would do. It didn't take long to find out as our boys were quick out of the blocks and into their stride very early on in this game with a couple of early goals and it wouldn't be an overstatement to say that they controlled the game from beginning to end. Pompey Pirates continued throughout to try to break through our defence who stood strong and with our midfield moving the ball forward quickly, the Pirates were on the back foot a lot of the time, finding it hard to cope with the positive link up play from our attacking midfield through to our forwards. So, a victory in our first match of the year for our boys and a Quarter Final place in the Hants Cup. Not a bad start to 2010.
Final score: Salisbury City Youth 9 - 0 Pompey Pirates.
Scorers: Billy Ward 2, Sam Dolan, Bradlee Walton 2, Alex Ferguson, Sam Bailey, Richie Cooper, Scott Horton
JAN 13th - As stated on the message board training for Friday 15th Jan has been cancelled.
At the moment the astro pitch is a few inches under snow and we are not sure if it will be clear by Friday. However there is to be a training sesssion at the Five Rivers Leisure Centre on Saturday 16th between 12 - 2pm. Please be there for 11.50pm and remember the boys will definately need their drinks bottles as it can get very warm training inside, also remember they need to wear trainers (as well as the usual black training strip).
As for Sundays 4th round match against Pompey Pirates which has now reversed to us
(we get two attempts to hold this fixture at Sherfield English before it reverts back to their ground), the groundsman has informned our manager that he intends to have a pitch inspection on Saturday morning to see if there is any chance of the game going ahead on Sunday. So, once again it's a case of watch this space and check back Sunday morning at the latest to see if we're playing or not. As soon as we hear anything it'll be on the notice board
JAN 02nd - Happy New Year to everyone - As mentioned on the main page, there is to be a pitch inspection at Sherfield English on Sunday morning to see if our 2 o'clock Tyro Cup game can go ahead. The earlier matches that kick off at 10 oclock have already been cancelled because the ground is too frozen at that time of day but to give us a chance of playing and the ground of thawing out a bit, the groundsman is holding off a pitch inspection till between 10 and 11 and if the Sun is shining and the pitch looks like it will thaw out a bit and be playable by 2 o'clock, then the match will go ahead. If not (and hopefully it won't be the case) then it will be another match lost to the weather. Either way we will let you know as soon as we hear anything on Sunday morning. Fingers crossed!
DEC 20th - couldn't not believe it this morning when Chris rang up to say the match was off. The Sun is shining and in the Pompey area the forecast is for Sun all day, so the ground could have thawed out by the afternoon but it seems officials are quick to call off games and theres nothing we can do about it. Another bunch of dissapointed boys and parents. Was looking forward to this one as well but never mind, the season begins again in the New Year. We have matches against the Pompey Pirates and Eastleigh Youth in the Hampshire Cup and the Tyro Cup and then we have to get back on track in the Tyro League, there's a lot of football for the boys to look forward to come the New Year (as always - WEATHER PERMITTING!). On the main page you will have noticed that there is a friendly against Christchurch on the 27th December at Wick Lane, Downton. As the manager says, we need this game because the following Sunday we should be back in action in either the Tyro or Hampshire cup. With all the postponements it is getting a bit confusing as to what match is next but you will be informned as soon as we hear anything. More soon.
UPDATE: The pitch we were meant to play on today at Langstone Sports Ground is owned by English Heritage and apparently it was these who said the game could not go ahead due to icy conditions (one of the goal areas was hard with ice). So now you know.
DEC 13th - At long long last our boys got to play a competitive match and after 5 weeks it was worth waiting for as our boys went through to the 4th Round of the Hampshire County Cup by beating Woolton Hill Argyle 4 - 0. The scoreline could have been even more convincing but for a lot of good saves by their keeper and some near misses on our part but it was good for the boys to get back to winning ways after the enforced break due to the weather.
Scorers: Bradlee Walton (pen), Alex Ferguson, Sam Bailey, Richie Cooper
While we were busy in the cup, the two Pace teams were busy winning in Tyro Div one.
Pace Youth are now 2 points clear of us but they have played 3 games more and Pace Youth Pumas are 2 points clear of us but they have played 2 games more. We currently sit in 4th position but have played less games in the league than anyone else and as stated above we do have games in hand. Our league fixture will begin again in January 2010.
DEC 06th - yet another match bites the dust due to the weather, as soon as we know what happens next we will let you know. Hopefully the tie reverts back to us but we need confirmation first. On another note, the Salisbury City Youth section have been in contact with our manager and asked him to chase up those who have not paid for the photo pack they received as a result of the A & M photography photo shoot at the Ray Mcenhill stadium a while back. The message we have been asked to pass on is this: either pay up for the pack or return all photos in the provided envelope, it goes on to say, "if you do not, your son's will not be able to participate in any further activities" (whatever that means!), anyway, now you know, over to you. Please don't shoot the messenger we're just passing this on, as requested.
On a more positive note - Salisbury City FC would like to invite our management and boys to an Xmas Disco. The invite goes like this:
Salisbury City Football Club would like to invite you and the Youth Section to a Christmas Disco at the Ray Mac Stadium on Monday 21st December.

So there you have it, an invite to the Youth Section Christmas Disco courtesy of Salisbury FC. If you would like to purchase tickets, let Chris know how many you will require by December 14th and have your dosh ready. And last but not least - LETS HOPE THE WEATHER IS KIND TO US NEXT WEEK SO THE BOYS CAN PLAY SOME FOOTBALL! For now folks, thats all. Over and Out!
DEC 04th - In an attempt to generate some club funds we've signed up to an easyfundraising site where if you ever shop online, you can help raise some funds for the squad. All that's required is the simplest of sign ups (name, email address and a password) and then when you shop online you reach your favourite online stores (over 2000 listed) via the links at the easyfundraising site, you then shop as normal, it's that simple. The stores then make a small donation to our fund because you shopped with them and have listed us as the "cause" (SCFC TYRO SQUAD) that you want the donation to go to. You can find more info on this at the new fund raising page we have created and that is now listed in the main menu bar above.
Any funds that are raised this way are paid to our SCFC Tyro Squad Fund every quarter to be handed over to the Treasurer or Management, who, in the spirit of openness, will have full access to the funds admin area (accounts, payments etc) whenever they request it.
Even if you don't shop online yourself or want to sign up to easyfundraising, you can still help by passing on the links featured on the fund raising page to other people or clubs (see referral link section) who do.

NOV 29th - So here we are again, another match postponed due to weather and seeing as it was a cup match that was reverted we have no idea at the moment what happens next (does it revert back to us or do they get another attempt at hosting the match?). The ironic thing is the manager was informed that the pitch was playable today at Sherfield English, oh well. As it stands, next week we are meant to play a home match against Eastleigh Youth in the Tyro Cup but it might be that we have to get the Hampshire Cup match against Woolton out of the way first. Come next Sunday it will have been a month since we last played a competitive match in either cup or league, which makes the friendly thats been arranged for Wednesday evening (Dec 2nd) that bit more essential in getting the boys back into match play mode.
As to next Sundays match, as soon as it's known who and where we are playing we will let you know.
NOV 22nd - Once again we have to report the dissapointing news that another match is cancelled due to bad weather resulting in a waterlogged pitch but what we were not expecting to report is that the match will now have to be played at Woolton Hill Argyles pitch.
Under Hampshire FA rulings, a cup match that is cancelled twice, due to weather, is reverted for the following match. This means we now have to travel to Woolton Hill (near Newbury) to play this 3rd round Hampshire Cup match.
It has not been confirmed yet but we are assuming this trip will take place next Sunday (29th November). The manager will be in contact with Wollton Hill Argyle to try and get a suitable 2'oclock kick off. As soon as we have confirmation of match and time it will be posted here.
On another note:
CLUB FUNDS FOR SALISBURY CITY UNDER 11'S (TYRO LEAGUE).
In an attempt to boost club funds the manager and his assistant will be arranging some events but would like parents, carers, friends, etc, of Salisbury City Youth Under 11's Tyro League, to put forward any ideas they may have for raising funds. You can contact the management direct or via the contact page here at scfctyro.com with any ideas being passed onto the manager and his assistant.
OR, you could go ahead with your own ideas to raise some funds for Salisbury City Under 11's (Tyro League) and pass any money raised onto the management, who will appreciate, very much, your fund raising efforts.
My idea for a sponsored beer drink, with me drinking as much beer as possible, with the money for the beer that i drink being taken out of the money raised, was met with a response of "get real!". I was only joking! but seriously, if you can pass on any feasible ideas for fund raising (which don't involve riding a bike to Vietnam or bouncing along the Great Wall of China on a pogo stick), this would be very helpful.
NOV 17th - Here's one for your diary or calendar - the Manager has just informed us that he has arranged a midweek friendly match against Greenfields ( who play in the Dorset Youth League) to take place on the evening of Wednesday the 2nd of December. The venue is Wick Lane, Downton. Kick off is at 7'oclock so please be there by 6.30pm (no later than 6.40pm) for warm up etc. The following Sunday (6th December) we have a Tyro League match against Pace Youth, so it's important the boys get some extra match play under their belts, seeing as the season has been a bit stop and start of late due to bad weather, etc.
NOV 15th - The 3rd Round match of the Hampshire County Cup we were to have played today against Woolton Hill Argyle was cancelled due to only one pitch being available in the afternoon. The heavy rains of the last few days led to the morning games being cancelled and only one pitch being available for the afternoon. Two matches were planned for the afternoon, ours and Salisbury City Youth Under 16's. Hampshire FA stepped in and gave priority to the under 16's match. This means the cup match against Woolton Hill Argyle will now be played next week (weather permitting) with the Tyro Cup match against Eastleigh Youth to have been played next Sunday being put back to the Sunday after.
NOV 11th - It made a change for our boys to play a match under floodlight, the last evening match we played was back in the summer, which seems a long way off now but the boys didn't let the floodlights or the drizzly conditions put them off and they showed a lot of determination to win this midweek friendly against Alderbury under 12's by 1 - 3.
Salisbury City scorers: Billy Ward, Sam Dolan (2)
NOV 8th - in what seemed like the first away game in months, our boys travelled down to Fleming Park in Eastleigh to face City Central Youth. After a scrappy first half which saw Salisbury City go ahead 0 - 1, our boys started to pass the ball around a bit better to finish off comfortable winners with the score ending City Central Youth 0 - 5 Salisbury City Youth.
Scorers: Sam Dolan, Alex Ferguson 3, Sam Bailey
Well done to Alex for getting a hat trick. Another result at the top of the table that went in our favour was Pace Youth Pumas losing at home 2 - 5 to Hythe + Dibden Youth Jets. We now move to 2nd place with games in hand. Next up are 2 cup matches (Hampshire County + Tyro Challenge). Come on you Whites!
Nov 1st - After having a couple of matches postponed lately, we were looking forward to getting the season back on track today but after this mornings rain the groundstaff at Sherfield English contacted Chris, at lunchtime, to say the match would have to be postponed due to waterlogged goal areas. The manager offered to arrive early and try to drain these areas but the groundstaff were adamant and the game was postponed.
In case your interested, it wasn't just our match that was called off - ALL the fixtures in the Tyro League Division One were. So no changes in League positions this week. Lets hope the weather doesn't lead to too many cancellations these coming winter months. Please read announcement below.
MANAGERS NOTE: EXTENDED TRAINING SESSIONS.
With the lack of games recently and a League match against City Central next week and then a couple of cup games in the following weeks, the manager would like it known that the weekly training is to be extended (until further notice) and that the boys are to arrive for training by 5.30pm at the latest. Thanks for your attention in this matter.
Oct 25th - Even though we ourselves did not have a game this weekend, there were a couple of matches played in Tyro League Div One. Hythe + Dibden Jets got beat 1-5 by Pace Youth and City Central Youth beat Hythe + Dibden Harriers 9 -2. The other 2 matches (ours included) were postponed. Therefor not a lot of change to the league table but a bit of news is Winchester Youth A have had 2 points deducted for fielding an ineligible player on the first day of the season and as a result they have dropped down a couple of positions in the table. We remain in third spot but have 2 games in hand over those in second place and 1 game in hand over top placed Pace Youth Pumas. Our season gets back on track next Sunday with a home game against Hythe + Dibden Jets.
Oct 20th - Keepy Uppy Challenge - after a sponsor of our Billy asked if all the money was going to the Help For Heroes Charity, we said we weren't sure but would find out. We then noticed on the Salisbury City Youth Section website that money raised from the keepy uppy challenge was to go to both Help For Heroes and the Youth Section but it didn't say how much. To clear the matter up for future sponsors, we got in contact with Salisbury City FC Youth Section to find out, they replied promptly and were very helpful, explaining that it was an oversight on their part and that they should have mentioned on the Keepy Uppy Sponsor form that all money raised from the keepy uppy challenge is to be split 50/50 between Help For Heroes and Salisbury City FC Youth Section. They have now ammended the sponsor forms to note the 50/50 split. If you have already got some sponsors and are planning to get some more and you have the unammended version of the sponser form, the best thing to do is write down at the top of the form that the money is to be split 50/50 between Help For Heroes and Salisbury City FC Youth Section and pass this information onto those who have already put themselves down as your sponsors, this way, they know exactly where their money is going.
If you would like to know more about the Help For Heroes charity for wounded servicemen and women the web address is www.helpforheroes.co.uk
Oct 18th - Our 3 -1 victory over Winchester Youth today puts us through to the last 32 of the Hampshire County Cup and another home tie (see third round draw).
Scorers: Own Goal (headed in by one of their defenders from a Salisbury corner), Richie Cooper, Bradlee Walton.
From the 1st of November it's back to business in Tyro Division One with a match against Hythe + Dibden youth Jets followed by City Central Youth and Hythe + Dibden Youth Harriers, with two more cup matches (Hampshire County Cup + Tyro Challenge Cup on the 15th + 22nd) squeezed in amongst them. 5 matches in total, makes November a busy month, football wise. Bring it on!
Chris would like to remind the squad to turn up for training on Fridays at 5.45 on the dot as Steve is going to warm up the boys and put them through their paces in an attempt to raise fitness levels.
OCT 12th - The third round draw of Hampshire Cup that we put up (for a short period) has now been taken down. If we get through the 2nd round match against Winchester Youth, the third round draw will be put up again. We don't want to be presumptious, lets see what happens in the 2nd round match, first.
Oct 11th - The Salisbury City Youth Section have organised a photo shoot for all the youth teams / squads. Individual player and team photos will be done by A & M Photography who specialise in sports academies. The photo shoot will take place at the Ray Mcenhill stadium
on the afternoon of Saturday 17th October. The schedule for the teams to take part in the photo session is detailed below. As you will see the schedule is tight and requires players to be available ready for the photos to be taken at the correct time – so please don’t be late:

Oct 08th - JUST TO REMIND YOU - NO MATCH THIS WEEKEND.
REPEAT - THERE IS NO CUP MATCH AGAINST WINCHESTER YOUTH THIS SUNDAY (11TH OCT) IT WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY 18TH AT SHERFIELD ENGLISH AND TIME OF KICK OFF HAS JUST BEEN CONFIRMNED AS 10AM. THE COACHING STAFF WOULD LIKE THE SQUAD THERE BY 9.15 (9.30 AT THE LATEST) FOR PRE MATCH WARM UP, ETC
Yesterday - A few of our squad members represented their schools in the Chalke Valley Six A Side Football Tournament at Broad Chalke The tournament had 16 schools taking part, these were split into 4 groups of 4 with each team within a group playing each other. The top 2 from each group went through to the quarter finals. The competition was played throughout a day where it never stopped raining, in fact as it reached the semi final / final stages it got worse but the boys kept on even though they were drenched to the bone and cold.
St Marks who went onto win the tournament had 5 of our Salisbury City Youth squad playing for them. St Marks won all their group matches and then went onto beat Woodlands 1 - 0 in the quarter final (scorer Zach Holliwood). In the semi final they faced Broad Chalke who they beat 4-0 (Scorers BIlly Ward, Freddy Davies and Kieran Edginton 2).
The Tournament Final was St Marks versus Harnham
- Boys from our Salisbury City Youth squad playing for St Marks were: William Wade, Sam Muge, Keenan Waters (Badgers), Kieran Edginton, Billy Ward and Charlie Burden.
- Harnham had Bradlee Walton in their team who had got to the final by beating Pembrooke Park who had another of our squad, Sam Bailey playing for them. (Ben Bradwell also took part in the tournament withhis schoolteam New Forest)
The Final was a hard fought affair with only one goal in it. The winner was scored by Billy Ward. As well as a cup for the winners and medals for finalists + semi finalists, St Marks and Harnham have also been entered into an inter county Six A Side competition, next January
Oct 05th - The Hampshire Cup 2nd Round match to have been played this coming Sunday (11th October) has been postponed because some of the Winchester Youth "A" team have to be elsewhere. The Tyro League match against Winchester Youth "A" the following week (Sunday 18th October) is now to become the Hampshire Cup 2nd Round match. See Match and Training info for a bit more (not a lot) info. Chris the Manager tried to have this Sundays match go ahead by having the kick off earlier but to no avail. As he stated though, by the time the 18th comes around some of our injured / unavailable boys could / should be back to bolster the squad.
Training on Friday still on - 1745 Astro Turf pitch - Wilton Road
Oct 04th - Today was the first time we have played at our new home pitch and it seems the coaching staff and parents are impressed with the state of the home pitch we'll be playing on this season. To the match itself, against Sky Blues Youth - after the hard (but exciting) game last week, things were a bit easier this week with our Salisbury City Youth team winning 10-1, a scoreline that could have been much higher if not for a lot of near misses, wasted chances and some good and brave goalkeeping by the Sky Blues keeper
Scorers: Sam Dolan 3, Sam Bailey 2, Bradlee Walton 2, Charlie Burden, Kieran Edginton, Ben Bradwell
UPDATE: With other results now in (see results page) we can tell you that this win has put us back on top on goal difference. We have a 2 goal advantage over Pace Youth Pumas. Our next opponents are Winchester Youth A (a home match for us) who we face in the 2nd round of the Hampshire County Cup.
Sept 27th - it wasn't looking too good for quite a while today with our boys being outplayed in the first half by Pace but grit and determination and a lot of pressure in the 2nd half, eventually wore Pace Youth down enough for our boys to create the chances and eventually get on top and win the game 1-3. Not a good display by our standards but it is said that " the sign of a good team is one that can win games whilst not playing particularly well." This quote is usually used when talking about Manchester United but today we'll use it for our boys.
Scorers: Ben Bradwell, Sam Dolan, Richie Cooper
UPDATE: Just put up todays results and league positions you'll see that even though we had a win today we move down to 2nd position in the League due to goal difference, Hythe + Dibden Yth Jets beat Hythe + Dibden Yth Harriers 12 - 0 which puts them top by 3 goals)
Sept 26th - At long last we can announce that the Squad page has now been put up for you to
view, hope you like it. We did have a request for a photo slideshow, so not wanting to dissapoint, we are working on one at the moment and hopefully this coming week we will put it up in the gallery, we'll let you know when we do so. It's back to Tyro League Div 1 matters tomorrow and back to the Testwood area of Totton for a repeat match against Pace Youth.
We will put up all results and league positions as soon as we have them. Till then - Come on you whites!
Sept 20th - great result in the 1st round of the Southampton Tyro Challenge Cup.
Our boys were away to Pace Youth at Testwood Sports College and even though we only had enough boys to field 11 (no subs due to injuries and other committments) leading Chris to make a few positional changes to get the best out of the 11 available, the boys adapted well and fought hard, throughout, all over the pitch to keep the upper hand they had claimed from early on. Pace themselves worked hard and from time to time were fast on the break but overall posed little danger around the penalty area.
Final score Pace Youth 0 - Salisbury City Youth 5
Scorers: Sam Bailey, Richie Cooper 3, Billy Ward
Will post up our opponents for the 2nd Round of the Tyro Cup as soon as its drawn.
Oh yeah before i forget, Chris/manager has left a message in the Guestbook / Messageboard.
Sept 17th - A "home pitch" page has been added with info as to where it is and directions of how to get there (well it does help), the image has the pitches looking premiership standard, reality will have them looking somewhat different, i'm sure.
Another page coming very soon is the squad page (just need to resize/upload boys photos).
Please note: match reports have a new home and can be found on fixtures/results page.
You will have noticed we have drawn Winchester Youth A in the 2nd Round of the Hampshire County Cup, out of all the teams we could have drawn we get a team from the same Division as us! (Tyro Div One). In case you were wondering, Winchester Youth A got to the 2nd round via a "walkover".
Sept 14th - A great result for our boys yesterday with a 0 -15 away win against Brading Youth Colts (Isle of Wight) in the first round of the Hampshire County Sunday Under 11's Cup. Even though it was clear from very early on that there was only going to be one result Brading Youth Colts battled on in good spirit to the final whistle. A big thank you to Brading Youth Colts and Brading FC for making Salisbury City Youth FC and parents and family members feel very welcome to their club and thanks also for the after match buffet, which seemed, from the way the boys were tucking in, to have been very much appreciated.
Scorers: Richie Cooper 4 / Tom Farwell 3 / Alex Ferguson 2 / Billy Ward 2 / Ben Bradwell / Bradlee Walton / Sam Dolan / Sam Bailey.
All in all an enjoyable day, the weather was with us and no one got too lost en route or dissapeared overboard from the ferry. Here's to the next round. Hope it's as enjoyable.
Photos to follow soon.
Footnote: There was a bit of confusion over the final score/scorers. It turned out Sarah had listed one of the early goals as Billy's when it was in fact Sam Bailey's. Billy later got 2 goals, so, post Match and going from her list, Sarah was convinced Billy had scored a hat-trick, Billy didn't think so but Sarah convinced him otherwise, "it's on the list". As soon as it was known Sam Bailey had scored but not been listed Sarah apologised to Sam and said he'd definately be credited here at the website (job done). A private investigator was called in and the mistake was unearthed (Billy had been listed for a goal instead of Sam). As soon as the mistake was sorted Billy was stripped of his hat-trick and sent to bed without his tea (for not getting a hat-trick, ha ha) and Sarah has done the honourable thing, hung up her pen and paper and handed in her resignation as score taker.
Sept 06th - first Tyro league match of the season, away to Hythe + Dibden Yth Harriers, saw our boys (looking smart in their new kits) win 0 - 11. Scorers: Richie Cooper 4, Sam Bailey 3, Alex Ferguson, Kieran Edginton, Charlie Rayfield, Billy Ward. Still awaiting the result from City Central Yth v Winchester Yth game but for the moment our Salisbury City Youth top the league on goal difference. Manager Chris announces that the team will be entered into another cup competition (making 3 in total). More info to come as we get it.
Sept 05th - Last night saw another win in the teams last pre-season friendly before the league season starts on Sunday. After conceding an early goal our boys came back to win 6 - 1 against a Clarendon team a year older. Scorers for us: Richie Cooper 2, replacement player Scott 2, Charlie Burden, plus an own goal by Clarendon. Lets hope the unbeaten pre-season run can continue when we travel to Hythe for the first match of the new season
Sept 03rd - KICK OFF FOR BRADING MATCH ON ISLE OF WIGHT HAS CHANGED!
- Hot on the heels of the kick off for the away match with Hythe and Dibden Youth Harriers being changed from 10.00 to 12.00, comes the news that the Hampshire Cup match against Brading Youth Colts on the Isle of Wight has also had its kick off time changed from 14.00hrs to 12.30hrs. For those that booked the 10.00 hrs ferry or earlier this should pose no problem. If you booked a later ferry you may want to try and change it for a 10.00 hrs departure to be sure of getting there on time. A pain in the rear we know but Chris was only informed of this, this afternoon. Reason: there is a another match being played at 14.00 hrs so ours had to be moved forwards. Match to be played at: Brading Town Football Club, The Peter Henry Ground, Vicarage Lane, Brading, Isle of Wight PO36 0AR
Sept 02nd - Last night saw our boys beat Brendon 66 (Tyro Div 2) by 12 goals in a match that ended up 12-0. Another win in an, as yet, unbeaten pre season run. Scorers: Richie Cooper 5, Sam Dolan 2, Tom Lane, Sam Bailey, Bradlee Walton, Sam Muge, Billy Ward.
Aug 28th - Friday evening saw our boys (Salisbury City Youth Tyro Under 11s) taking on the Salisbury City Youth Under 13's. Despite the age diference our boys came out on top again with a 3-1 win. Scorers for us were: Sam Bailey, Richie Cooper, the other was an own goal.
Aug 27th - Another pre season friendly at Alderholt sees our boys win 0 - 4. The boys had to work hard to get this result against determined opponents. On the scoresheet were Tom Farwell, Bradlee Walton (2) and Richie Cooper
Aug 25th - Full fixture list (teams / kick offs / venues) for coming season is now up.
Aug 22nd - see match and training page for info on match against Alderholt on Thursday 27th. We've also posted up league and cup fixtures for September (all of them are away matches), these can be found on the fixtures/results page. Will post up more fixtures when we get back from this weekends camping expedition as well as some photos from last weeks match against Kingswood which Tim (our goalkeepers dad) took.
Aug 15th - Another good result for our boys with a victory over Kingswood. Final result was 9-1. Some good all round performances. Boys on the scoresheet were Sam Dolan, Tom Farwell, Alex Ferguson, Bradlee Walton, Sam Bailey (i think) and Ritchie Cooper there was also an own goal. If we missed anyone, apologies.
Please step forward if you want to write up match reports this coming season.
Ref for the match was Ethan Davids who may be the ref for our home matches this coming season.
Till next Friday (21st) thats it, we're out of here. On return i'll put up next seasons fixture list.
Aug 14th - the following is taken from Salisbury City FC's official site:
"SALISBURY City's under 11s will be in action at the Ray Mac on Saturday immediately after the first team's Blue Square Premier match with Mansfield Town.
Chris Burden's side will play Kingswood in a friendly. The club's general manager Nick Holmes said he hoped supporters not wishing to join the traffic queues exiting the ground following the final whistle would stay and support the club's youngsters.“We’ve invited the families of both sides to come up and watch the game. While the pitch is in such good condition we’re keen to put on things like this. It’s not always possible to do so in the winter months.” By Salisbury City FC - Thursday, 13th August 2009
